Privacy & consultation data
Updated 14 October 2026. The Flag Choice is an independent public consultation administered through kiricampbell.com.
What we collect
We collect your email, selected flag, optional full name and petition consent, submission timestamp, and security-related information such as hashed network identifiers. Your email is used to send a verification link. Your name is required only if you separately choose to sign the proposed petition.
How we use it
We use information to confirm submissions, prevent duplicate voting, count aggregate responses, maintain audit records, and prepare petition evidence where you expressly consent. We publish only aggregated totals. We do not sell personal information or display individual choices publicly.
Processing, storage and retention
Records are stored with a hosted database provider, and transactional emails may be processed by our email service provider, including services outside New Zealand. Records will be reviewed for deletion after the consultation concludes, subject to any applicable legal or audit retention obligation. A definitive retention schedule must be published before a formal parliamentary submission.
Your choices and rights
Participation is voluntary. You may request access to or correction of information about you or seek withdrawal of your optional petition signature by contacting the website operator through kiricampbell.com. The 2020 New Zealand Privacy Act may apply.
